It's Faux Easy 2: 30 All-New Finishes for Walls, Floors & Ceilings

Gary Lord introduces 30 of the best new cutting-edge faux finishes and decorative painting techniques to enhance anyone's décor and add style and value to their home.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: NOVEMBER 15th, 2008

1. Eligibility

This is an open invitation to anyone who would like to have their work showcased in Gary Lord's next decorative painting book, a sequel to his highly successful It's Faux Easy with Gary Lord. This new book will present 30 all-new faux finishes and decorative painting techniques that are exemplary of how the industry and its products, techniques, and practitioners have progressed.

We want to see your individual creativity and passion represented in the photograph of a finished project you submit. You are invited to submit up to, but no more than, three completed projects. The projects may be on walls, floors, ceilings, furniture or cabinets, on interior or exterior surfaces, in a residential setting. (Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot accept any submissions of interior or exterior projects done in commercial settings or for commercial clients. Submissions must be of residential projects only.)

The designs must be of your own creation. We are looking for creativity in the use of any paint manufacturer's products, or combination of product lines, with the use of common or uncommon tools of application. The work can be in a traditional, transitional or contemporary design scheme. We are focusing this book on faux finishing and decorative painting techniques and will not consider any mural subject matter.

The projects in the book will range from simple enough for beginning DIY'ers, to sophisticated enough to excite young, design-savvy homeowners and professional home decorators looking for cutting-edge ideas for their clients.

The book will be structured the same as Gary's first It's Faux Easy book. There will be 30 full step-by-step demonstrations that show readers how to reproduce each finish, what materials to use, what type and colors of paint products to buy, and how the end results look in an actual room. Gary Lord will be doing several of his newest creations using foils, reactive materials such as rust and patinas, Modellos, Italian plasters, JaDecor and more. The remainder of the book will include projects from known professionals as well as talented up-andcomers contributing their latest innovations in faux finishing techniques, styles, colors and materials. Even if you have never been published before, we encourage you to submit your best work!

2. Submission Requirements

3. Notification of Winners

Winners only will be notified on or before December 15th, 2008 via e-mail or phone call. Winners will be asked to provide written directions with step-by-step digital photos of their project. If you are selected, you will receive a detailed packet instructing you on the publisher's requirements for photos and text. In the back of the book will be a section listing the contact information for all the contributors, a short bio, and a detailed list of all the products, tools, and manufacturers you used to create your project. All artists selected will be required to turn in their finished captions and digital photographs by February 15th, 2009.
