Barb Skivington - Artisan Cabinet Finishes
3 Day Workshop | $1295 Sale price $1165.00
Cincinnati | April 28-30, 2010 | 9am-5pm

We are excited to offer a brand new workshop by Barb Skivington of Faux Works Studio in High Point, NC. Barb enjoys a stellar reputation as an accomplished instructor as well as the creative force behind a highly popular series of cabinet and furniture finishing classes that have been selling out nationwide.
For this latest workshop addition, Barb has created a series of inspired finishes that will not only train you in all the basic aspects of creating stylish surface finishes for both new and Are-new® cabinets and furniture - these finishes will also take your custom work to the next level and set your portfolio apart from the "old standards" with stylish new "classics."
While the inspiration for this newest workshop is decidedly classical, the application need not be strictly for traditional interiors - clean lines and a graphical look easily move these finishes into more modern environments where subtle details and a restrained hand are appreciated.
With innovative techniques and modern-day materials, students will learn to produce finishes for the client that desires and appreciates custom, hand-rendered results. These high-end finishes will be created with the use of stencils, Modello Decorative Masking Patterns, classic wood graining methods, modern metallic foils, and more - all designed to produce the appearance of a luxurious hand-rubbed finish, a gorgeous metallic glow, or an aged patina.
The beauty of inspiration is that it can come from anywhere. Even more captivating is where it eventually leads.
Students will complete eight beautifully finished cabinet door samples from start to finish using both hand applied and HVLP sprayed layers. If you have never used an HVLP sprayer in your work, this will be an ideal time to learn!
Cabinet and furniture finishing and resurfacing are super hot and an important and potentially profitable niche market to excel in during these economic conditions. Don=t miss this chance to capitalize on this wonderful opportunity to learn these important skills from one of the most respected authorities on cabinet and furniture finishing.
